VOS close to fulfilling contract

In November 2017, Vos Prodect Innovations BV (VPI) received a contract, that they are set to complete, to design and deliver inter array cable hang-off systems for the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind park.

The contract awarded by Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH (NSW) will see VPI design and deliver hang-off systems in an attempt to reduce health and safety risks on the wind farm.

The Wind Turbine Generator and Offshore Substation hang-off systems will be delivered with a sealing system. A sealed hang-off system has an effect in reducing the risk of hydrogen gases rising up from inside of the monopile due to the induced current cathodic protection (ICCP) system in the closed compartment between sea surface and air tight deck.

Deutsche Bucht is a 252MW offshore wind farm located in the North Sea, approximately 95 km north-west of the island of Borkum. It comprises 31 MHI Vestas Offshore Wind 164-8.0MW (8.4MW Power Mode) turbines that will provide renewable energy to more than 178,000 households. Deutsche Bucht is Northland Power’s third offshore wind farm in the North Sea and planned to be completed in late 2019.

Delivery of the hang-off systems is scheduled in the first half of 2018.
