Equinor and Polenergia's joint venture has secured a Capacity Reservation and Early Works agreement with Smulders Projects Belgium NV and Sif Netherlands BV for the manufacturing of 100 Transition Pieces for the Bałtyk 2 & 3 offshore wind farms. Located in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea, these wind farms will each have an installed capacity of 720 MW, totaling 1440 MW.

The Bałtyk 2 & 3 wind farms are situated 36 km and 22 km off the Polish coast, respectively. The consortium's scope includes design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of the Transition Pieces. Sif will handle the primary steel tubulars in Roermond, while Smulders will oversee the secondary steel work, coating, and electrical systems in Poland, with final assembly in Hoboken, Belgium.

Fred van Beers, CEO of Sif Holding, expressed satisfaction with the agreement, noting it fully utilizes their production capacity for 2025. Raf Iemants, Managing Director of Smulders, highlighted the importance of Polish facilities in the project, emphasizing their commitment to local industry and expertise.
