Oleg Strashnov lays foundations for Beatrice

Ian GreenwoodThe Oleg Strashnov, with the aid of the jack-up vessel Seajacks Hydra, has continued works on the Beatrice offshore wind farm with the installation of the jacket foundations.

The jacket foundations, pictured being installed by the two vessels, weigh on average between 1000 to 1150 tonnes and have a height ranging from 68 - 81m.

Located in the Moray Firth, the
Beatrice project will be Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm, comprising of 84 Siemens Gamesa SWT-7.0-154 turbines. The 588MW capacity array is expected to be capable of generating enough electricity to power approximately 450,000 homes. First power is currently scheduled for July 2018 with commissioning expected to follow in 2019.
