Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) has announced an expansion of its crew transfer vessel (CTV) fleet from five to seven ships, placing an order for two new high-specification vessels. The order, placed with Singapore-based shipyard Strategic Marine, aligns with the company's strategy to support the growing offshore wind industry, particularly in France.

The new vessels will be sisterships to the Esti’Vent and Acti’Vent, both based on the StratCat 27 model. Known for its robust and reliable design, the StratCat 27 accommodates 24 passengers and emphasises safety, performance, and comfort, making it ideal for demanding offshore operations.

Currently, LD Tide, a joint venture between LDA and Tidal Transit, manages five CTVs. Three of these vessels are dedicated to the St-Nazaire offshore wind farm, while Acti’Vent services the Fécamp offshore wind farm. Esti’Vent supports the installation phase of various offshore wind projects.

Gaël Cailleaux, Renewables Managing Director at LDA, stated, “These new orders are part of the strategy to expand our Offshore Renewables business in France and Europe. We are anticipating the future needs of the rapidly evolving French offshore wind industry.”

The new CTVs are expected to be delivered early in 2025, reinforcing LDA’s commitment to supporting the offshore wind sector.

Technical specifications of the new CTVs:

Length: 27 m
Operability: min. 1.75 m Hs
Capacity: 24 technicians, 3 crew members
Max speed: 26+ knots
