Kincardine gains Scots approval

Approval has been granted for the Kincardine offshore wind farm to adjust some of its features.

After applying to the the Scottish Ministers, KOWL has had its plans to change the number of wind turbines from eight down to seven approved. This coincides with an increase in the maximum individual turbine capacity increase from 8MW to 8.4MW. This is too ensure that the 50MW maximum wind farm capacity is not exeeded.

As well as this, they have been granted permission to increase the turbine hub height an extra 5m, meaning the hub now sits 105m above the water surface.

To go along with the increase in hub height, the approriate changes have been made to the baldes, including length, tip height, rotor diameter, blade width and the rotation speed.
