Iberdrola Germany begins implementation of €1 billion Windanker offshore wind farm

Iberdrola Germany has announced the commencement of the manufacturing phase for its Windanker offshore wind farm, following the Final Investment Decision (FID). This €1 billion project, situated in the German Baltic Sea, marks the company’s third major offshore endeavor in the region.

Windanker, scheduled for commissioning in 2026, will boast an installed capacity of 315 MW. The project is a significant part of Iberdrola's Baltic Hub, which also includes the Wikinger and Baltic Eagle offshore wind farms.

The development of Windanker is expected to generate over 1,200 jobs in the construction industry, engaging 130 suppliers from 22 countries. Production work is set to begin in July 2024, with key supply contracts already secured to ensure a seamless project execution.

This milestone underscores Iberdrola's commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Germany and solidifying its presence in the German renewable energy market.
