Greenberg Traurig, LLP's London and Milan offices have successfully advised Teesworks on a significant contract with ASCO, a global logistics and materials management specialist, to provide comprehensive services at the UK's largest freeport in Northeast England.

The contract will focus on Teesworks' South Bank Heavy Lift Quay, which features a new 450-metre quay aimed at servicing the offshore wind farm and the broader energy sector. ASCO will manage various services, including quayside planning and scheduling, operations coordination, vessel scheduling, stevedoring, and internal distribution. Work is set to commence this summer, with the first vessel arrival planned for September 2024.

The advisory team from Greenberg Traurig included Corporate Shareholder Shashank Krishna, head of the London Energy & Natural Resources Practice, and Milan Counsel Juljan Puna.

Teesworks, currently the UK's largest freeport, is being developed as an integrated energy hub, incorporating new energy technologies such as hydrogen, carbon capture usage and storage (CCUS), and offshore wind projects, including monopile manufacturer SeAH Wind.

Krishna expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "We are delighted to have advised Teesworks on this major operating contract. Teesworks is a transformative project for the region, converting Tees Valley into an integrated energy hub and pioneering the UK's green energy transition."

Puna added, "We are profoundly grateful to Teesworks for the opportunity to advise them on this major contract, which is set to have a tremendous impact on the area and its residents."

The collaboration with ASCO marks a significant milestone in Teesworks' ongoing development and its role in advancing the UK's green energy solutions.
