Fugro to conduct site surveys for offshore wind farm in Japan

Fugro has secured a contract to perform site characterisation surveys for an offshore wind farm near Murakami and Tainai in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The project is a collaboration between RWE, Mitsui & Co., and Osaka Gas.

The surveys, which began in May 2024, involve Fugro’s jack-up platform Amberjack and two vessels, Equator and Mariner. Equipped with Fugro's advanced geophysical, geotechnical, and positioning systems, these vessels will collect Geo-data crucial for designing turbine foundations and cable routes.

Jerry Paisley, Fugro’s Regional Sales Director, expressed pride in supporting Japan's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, highlighting the company's long-standing presence in Japan and strong relationship with RWE.
