Dogger Bank South offshore wind farms seek planning consent

RWE Renewables UK has applied for consent for the Dogger Bank South Offshore Wind Farms, encompassing the UK4Y and UK4X projects with a combined capacity of 3 GW. The application, submitted by RWE Renewables UK Dogger Bank South (West) Ltd and RWE Renewables UK Dogger Bank South (East) Ltd, has not yet been made public as it is currently under review by the Planning Inspectorate.

The Dogger Bank South project includes the development of two offshore wind farms, Dogger Bank South West and Dogger Bank South East, along with the necessary offshore and onshore infrastructure. This infrastructure comprises high voltage electricity cables, electricity substations, connections to the National Grid, and related temporary works.

Currently, the project is in the acceptance stage. The Planning Inspectorate has a 28-day period to determine whether to accept the application for examination, with a decision expected by July 10, 2024. If accepted, the Inspectorate will publish the acceptance decision and the consultation representations from local councils. Should the application not be accepted, the reasons will be disclosed, and any published documentation will be removed from the project page.

The Dogger Bank South Offshore Wind Farms are located approximately 100 kilometres off the UK coast in the North Sea. This development represents a significant step in expanding the UK's renewable energy capacity.
