Swan HunterDOC-Swan Hunter, a joint venture partnership between Dutch Offshore Contractors and Swan Hunter, has completed the transportation of array cables from Norway to The Netherlands.

The re-schedued and expedited project to spool and transport 1,200Te of array cables for a Dutch customer was bid, won and executed in a very short timescale. The barge complete with carousel, loading tower and tensioners, were set up, mobilised and operational within five days from contract signing.

The companies scope of work included project management & engineering, barge mobilisation, spooling operations at Norwegian cable factory, tow of barge from Norway, cable transpooling operations to installation vessel and onshore storage reels in port of Eemshaven, and barge demobilisation for an unnamed German offshore wind farm.

DOC-Swan Hunter’s Director Dave Hangoor stated: “Securing this last minute project has been a great success to our customer and DOC-Swan Hunter. Considering the very tight timescale from contract signing, engineering and barge mobilisation allowing us to start spooling approximately 36km of product within five days, a great effort from our client, supporting suppliers and our team.”
