Delaware holds offshore public workshops

Delaware's offshore wind working group is hosting two public workshops in the coming weeks to collect input on the group's draft recommendations to the Governor John Carney.

The information collected from these workshops will help the governing body decide on a few factors in regards to offshore wind in the state, and the purchase of energy.

The group will aid examination of the environmental impacts that an offshore wind farm would have compared to other renewable sources of energy. The group will also look at the chances of an offshore wind farm displacing a fossil fuel generating facility, and if not fully, what extent it would.

Another reason for the workshops is too figure out if Delawareans would be willing to pay extra for offshore wind energy, and if so by how much.

The first one is due to take place on the 29th of May, at the William Penn High School Auditorium. The second one will be two days later at the South Coast Library in Bethany Beach.
