Cadeler's Wind Osprey has achieved a significant milestone by successfully installing the first of 23 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW offshore wind turbine at Ørsted's Gode Wind 3 project, marking a crucial step in the advancement of renewable energy initiatives.

The operation, conducted with the newly upgraded offshore wind farm installation vessel, Wind Osprey, was executed safely and efficiently. Situated around 32 km off the island of Norderney in Northern Germany, the turbine boasts a rotor diameter of 200 meters.

Upon completion, the Gode Wind 3 offshore wind farm will possess an installed capacity of 253 MW, capable of generating green electricity equivalent to the consumption of 250,000 households.

Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler, expressed enthusiasm regarding the achievement, highlighting the utilisation of Wind Osprey's state-of-the-art 1600 t crane to accelerate the renewable energy transition in Germany and Europe. Gleerup emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts with Ørsted, Siemens Gamesa, and other partners in realising shared green ambitions.

The project's success was attributed to the collective contributions of partners, clients, the German government and authorities, and Cadeler's dedicated team members.

Under the joint project contract signed with Ørsted in November 2021, Wind Osprey will continue its operations, tasked with installing a minimum of 48 offshore wind turbines across the Borkum Riffgrund 3 and Gode Wind 3 wind farms.
