Baltic Power chooses Port of Roenne

The wind turbines for the most advanced and first offshore wind farm to be built in Poland, Baltic Power, will be shipped from Port of Roenne at the end of 2024.

Port of Roenne has taken a leading position in the Baltic Sea as an installation and shipping port for offshore wind farms.

The next offshore project at the port will be the Polish wind farm Baltic Power with a capacity of approximately 1.2 GW. The wind farm will be established about 150 km east of Bornholm.

Baltic Power will be the first offshore wind farm to be built in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, and the 76 wind turbines in the project will be able to supply power to over 1.5 million households.

Baltic Power will also be the first European project to use Vestas' new 15 MW wind turbine (V236-15.0 MW), which has so far only been installed as a test turbine.

"We are very happy and proud that we are now also becoming the installation port for a Polish wind turbine project, and even the first of its kind in the Baltic Sea and with the brand new 15 MW wind turbine from Vestas. We take this as a sign that we have strengthened Port of Roenne's position as the center of green energy in the Baltic Sea," says Jeppe la Cour, Commercial Director, Port of Roenne A/S.

Baltic Power is a joint venture between the Polish company ORLEN and the Canadian company Northland Power. The project will consist of a total of 76 wind turbines, which will be installed during 2025.
