Acta MarineThe Acta Auriga  is currently at the BARD Offshore 1 wind farm performing logistical support works related to the contract signed in January.

The works concern a two year charter for Acta Marine’s vessel
Acta Auriga to perform logistical support for OBE’s maintenance activities on the wind farm.

"The use of Acta Auriga is an important element in further optimizing our logistics concept for BARD Offshore 1. The vessel, which was specially developed for use in offshore wind farms, is expected to increase the productivity of offshore personnel by around 25 percent, because it will enable our teams to operate in a much more flexible manner with even shorter waiting times than before,"
said Jean Huby, Managing Director for Technology at OBE. "The new vessel will thus contribute to ensuring and further increasing the excellent technical availability rate of our wind turbines, which currently stands at around 95 percent.”

Acta Auriga  is an Ulstein designed X-bow & X-stern DP2 offshore support vessel equipped with SMST motion compensated gangway with integrated elevator and crane functionality. Measuring 93m in length and 18m wide, it has been designed to provide walk-to-work transfer of personnel and cargo in significant wave heights up to 3m.

The vessel is also able to perform 3D compensated lifts with its 6t SMST 3D crane and is equipped with a fuel-efficient drive system. In total 120 people can stay onboard in its 80 cabins. The vessel will operate out Emden and will provide logistical support annually.

“Providing our walk to work vessel services to support OBE’s operations and maintenance in BARD Offshore 1 with our new innovative vessel Acta Auriga aligns with our commitment to enhance offshore service logistics for on-site maintenance in challenging
weather and sea conditions”
said Rob Boer, Managing Director at Acta Marine. “We are extremely pleased that the experienced OBE team has chosen our concept as the next step in its O&M strategy to ensure the highest availability of the turbines.”

BARD Offshore 1 is located 100km Northwest of the island Borkum and was inaugurated in August 2013 becoming the first commercial offshore wind farm in Germany. With 80 5MW turbines, the project has an overall capacity of 400MW.
